Bus driver issued citation after flipping YMCA bus on Highway 55, injuring 11
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The driver of a school bus carrying teens returning from a YMCA summer camp that flipped on Highway 55 last summer has been issued a citation according to Idaho Press.
On August 4, 2023, a school bus chartered by the YMCA was returning from a YMCA camp near Horsethief Reservoir when it flipped along Highway 55 north of Banks. 26 teens and two staff members were returning to Boise from the Summer camp. As many as 11 people were injured and all of the teen campers were transported to the hospital whether or not they were injured.
The driver, who was also injured in the crash, was a 64-year-old woman from Caldwell, reports the Idaho Press. She was issued a citation for driving too fast for the conditions, following an Idaho State Police investigation.
The Boise County Prosecutor's Office tells Idaho Press that additional charges are not likely.
