Former Motrhead Drummer Phil Taylor Dies
LONDON (CelebrityAccess) – Drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, a former drummer of the band Motörhead died on Wednesday. He was 61.
The announcement of Taylor's death was initially made via a post on the Facebook page of former guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke.
"My dear friend and brother passed away last night," Clarke wrote in the post. "He had been ill for sometime but that does not make it any easier when the time finally comes. I have known Phil since he was 21 and he was one hell of a character. Fortunately we made some fantastic music together and I have many many fond memories of our time together. Rest in Peace, Phil!"
Taylor joined the British heavy metal band in 1975, stepping in during the recording of Motörhead's first album to replace the band's original drummer, Lucas Fox.
Taylor stayed with Motörhead from 1975 to 1984 and 1987 to 1992. In 2014, he rejoined the band for their reunion gig in Birmingham in 2014, but did not perform.
A cause of death was not disclosed. – Staff Writers
