The New England Patriots are heading to a new era after parting ways with their veteran leader Bill Belichick following an underwhelming 2023 campaign. Following the news, the former Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones gave a bizarre ode to Belichick while remembering Tom Brady‘s infamous deflate-gate scandal.
Chandler Jones — who was released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this season — shared a video on his Instagram profile singing a song inspired by the tune of Chris Stapleton‘s Tennessee Whiskey.
Oh how I miss you. I just want to kiss you. They just got rid of you, oh Belichick. You didn’t flatten that ball. It was Tom Brady. You didn’t spygate. You didn’t deflategate. He’s NSA. So why fire him? When it should have been Mr. Kraft.Chandler Jones sang
Furthermore, the 4-time Pro Bowl defensive end went on to sign for a few more seconds about how the Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, fired the wrong man. He also sang about how Belichick made him the man he is now since he was his first NFL head coach.
Oh Bill Belichick, as long as you cut the check (you fired the wrong man), why fire him? They called it dynasty. He got seven Super Bowls. Oh Bill Belichick. He made me the man I am. Oh Bill Belichick. Why fire him?Jones sang
The Patriots drafted Chandler Jones as the 21st overall pick back in the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in New England, registering 36 sacks and helping them win a Super Bowl ring.
He later joined the Arizona Cardinals and had a great career there, before signing with the Raiders ahead of the 2022 season. Jones was released by the Raiders earlier this season following an arrest and he was never picked by another team.
Tom Brady pens heartfelt tribute to head coach Bill Belichick
After the Patriots announced their decision to part ways with their head coach and general manager Bill Belichick, the 7-time Super Bowl champion wrote a heartfelt tribute to his former mentor and head coach.
Brady took to social media and referred to Belichick as the greatest head coach of all time. He also reminisced about their accomplishments together. The duo won 6 Super Bowl rings and several conference titles together during their time in New England.
Now, the Pats are looking to find a good replacement for Belichick. Reports suggest their linebackers coach Jerod Mayo might get promoted to be Belichick’s successor. As for the Belichick, he is expected to join some other team as their new head coach.
