Mountain Home Country Music Festival draws mixed reviews
However, most agree that the first-ever festival is going through some growing pains.
"There's always going to be those complaints and different things that could be better," said Pocatello resident Jacob Stevens. "It's a work-out-the-kinks sort of thing. But it's a good time."
The number one complaint has been the dust. The concert is located on a patch of land northeast of Mountain Home in Elmore County. Concert-goers say the nearby foothills were completely obscured by dust Friday night, and country superstar Brad Paisley was coughing during his set.
"When we were at our camper, there was a huge dust storm," said Twin Falls resident Chelsi West. "We had to go inside."
"The dust is pretty bad when the wind comes up," said Mountain Home resident Ron Tugby. "Up until yesterday, they had some water trucks trying to keep the dust down."
People also complained about the remote location, the uneven terrain around the venue, and the lack of restrooms near the campground.
But most concert-goers say, despite the flaws, the festival is a great opportunity to see country stars like Blake Shelton and Florida-Georgia Line and has been a lot of fun.
"All there is is country music, good friends, and a good time," Stevens said.
