My wet mop in my house has more charisma, Colby Covington calls out uncharismatic Kamaru
Once again, Colby Covington has lashed out at Kamaru Usman. The rivalry between the two has been highlighted for a long time now. Usman and Covington have fought in the octagon twice before, with the former winning both times. Their bouts have always been promoted by disagreements outside the octagon and verbal altercations. Covington has now attacked Usman on the internet regarding his pursuit of a fight with Khamzat Chimaev.
Covington said, “Looks like he’s just looking for headlines and attention, cause he can’t get attention any other way, cause he has no charisma. Literally, there’s a wet mop at the corner of my house that has more charisma that Marty fake newsman.” Usman has not competed since his second loss to Leon Edwards. He has been looking for a fight with Chimaev in the catchweight division.
The Nigerian Nightmare was once a terror for all welterweights. Gaining a feared reputation as a wrestler, he was arguably the best in the division. He has successfully defended his title against fighters like Covington, Jorge Masvidal, and Gilbert Burns. During his fight with Edwards, Usman had the upper hand throughout the fight until he eventually got knocked out.
Currently, Kamaru Usman does not have any new matches scheduled. He has been after the catchweight bout with Chimaev. The chances of this fight happening are very low. Dana White wants Usman to compete at 185lbs (middleweight) if he wants the bout.
Kamaru Usman is still the biggest challenge to Leon Edwards
Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards have shared the octagon on three occasions now. Usman has won one and lost two of those bouts. Other than his loss to Edwards the Nigerian Nightmare was arguably the most dominant fighter in the welterweight division.
Kamaru Usman has successfully defended his title against top welterweight contenders like Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal, and Gilbert Burns. His ground game is second to none in the division, and his striking is also a threat. Leon Edwards, the current champion, is also a great striker and has one of the best fight resumes in the division. Edwards’ only significant loss was his first bout with Usman.
There has not been a challenger for the welterweight throne since UFC 286. Considering his fighting traits and techniques, Usman is still the biggest threat to Edwards. The champion may deal with other contenders with ease, but not the Nigerian Nightmare.
